I haven't missed a monthly favorites video since I started YouTube, but I'm sitting this month's out due to me leaving my tripod back in Kalamazoo, my current filming space still having green walls, and my body still adjusting to getting a lot done with very little free time. With that said, I can't live with myself if I don't share the beauty bits I've been obsessing over this month, so today I'm bringing you a blog post instead.
My beauty routine has been very simple since moving considering most of my makeup collection is still at home in Kzoo. I only brought two eyeshadow palettes with me (Urban Decay's Pulp Fiction and The Balm's Nude 'Tude), and I've just been sticking with BB cream for my face. Most days, I skip full glam and just go for bold brows, lashes, and a bit of nose and face contouring, but I've been all about experimenting with skincare this month.
I was recently sent this range to review and I'm thoroughly obsessed. The Total Regeneration Eye Gel is infused with Plant Stem Cells and moisturizes the under eye area, smoothing lines and acting as a perfect primer for concealer. The Age Defying Moisturizer provides intense collagen regeneration, contains a super 7 peptide complex, and helps to diminish fine lines and wrinkles. It's the smoothest, creamiest formula, with a pleasantly minty scent. I love it so much and have been using it both morning and night. I've also been trying out the Ultimate Hyaluronic Complex Serum, which acts as an anti-aging agent after cleansing. I'm a bit obsessed with this line, and it's already replaced my previous favorites. So far I've noticed huge improvements in my under eye area and haven't had any issues with dry patches or dullness like I typically do.
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Perfector*
When something comes in a package this pretty, it's got to be good. This product is something completely new to me: it's a universal balm powder that acts as a setting powder, complexion perfector, and mattifying touch up powder. I use it on days when I'm not in the mood for a full face of foundation, as it gently blurs imperfections and creates a gorgeous, matte, rosy glow. Or, use it to set concealer, foundation, or mattify your makeup throughout the day. I love using this along the bridge of my nose after contouring, as it creates a gorgeous highlighting effect without being dewy. It's super natural, ultra luxe, and the perfect addition to my summer makeup routine.
e.l.f. Makeup Wipes
Although I love e.l.f. makeup for being affordable and cruelty-free, I'm always a bit hesitant to try out skincare when the price tag is so incredibly low. Luckily, I found myself in a pinch the other night and picked these up since I've set a goal to stop sleeping in my makeup no matter what. Turns out, they're amazing and don't irritate my sensitive skin at all. The cloths themselves are super soft, and are gentle enough to remove eye makeup. They rival some of my pricier makeup towelettes and my only complaint is the packaging, but can you really complain for $3.00?
Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray
I've been hooked on the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray for ages, but when that ran out a few weeks ago, I decided to try something new. This setting spray is unbelievably good at keeping my makeup on for hours, as well as preventing shininess throughout the day. I hate that the white packaging gets dirty so easily, but it's a small price to pay for a product so amazing. I'll keep buying this over and over again (sorry, NYX!)
Maybelline Big Eyes Rebel Black Mascara
I'm not sure why I haven't tried this mascara sooner, but it's such a little gem. There are two wands on this mascara, one for top lashes and one for the bottom, which sounds a bit gimmicky but is actually amazing. The top wand is volumizing, thickening, and ultra black, while the bottom wand has teeny tiny bristles to get in at hard to reach (and easy to smudge) baby lashes that really make your eyes pop. This mascara gives a true doll-eyed look, which I'm obsessed with, and I don't even need to layer with another product to get my desired look. Score.
Maybelline Brow Satin
My LORAC brow pencil is about an inch long now, and it will always be my favorite. The version I have has been discontinued, so I'm saving it for an ultra special occasion, so for day to day, I picked this brow pencil up at the drugstore. It's another dual-ended product, with a pencil on one end and a smudger on the other. I love the pencil - it's the perfect shade of dark brown to compliment raven haired beauties, and the smudger helps give off that gorgeous ombre effect a la Kim K. Nothing compares to LORAC, and I wish this came with a spoolie, but it's a pretty great product, especially for the price.
